Cam Room Setup Advice For Models

Cam Room Setup Advice For Models

Perfect Cam Room

Many models are so fixated on kick starting their first cam show that they often forget just how important it is to have the right setup. Sure, some girls may not care and they’re fine with having their life visible. However, here at Camsoda.com, we really believe that it has an impact on personal branding as well as earnings. Not having the proper setup can give the perception of not being a professional. That doesn’t have to be the case though.

Today I’m going to teach everything you need to know about setting up the perfect cam room. There are many things that you must take into consideration. This article covers all the most important factors. Things like lighting, camera angles, room staging, cleanliness, audio, color schemes, decor and more! Whether you’re looking to become a cam girl, just getting started or especially if you’ve been at it and haven’t made much headway, then please read this…

Tips For Setting Up Your Cam Room

Cam girls are an extension of the platforms they’re working for. CamSoda and other platforms alike are very professional and the models can make or break a consumer’s experience. All those factors that the model can control play a huge role as they are variables in the perception and experience delivered.

For that reason alone, it’s important that your cam area/room be a comfortable and fitting setting while maintaining the professionalism that the platform holds in such high regards. Here are the main things that you must consider while setting up for success on cam.

dedication

Dedicated or Not?

When helping cam girls setup, the first thing I like to ask is if they’ve got space for a dedicated camming room. If you do have the space, it’s highly recommended that you dedicate a room strictly to your cam work. There are a number of reasons why this is most practical.

Without getting into all of the reasons why this is most favorable, you’ll find that it’s easier to keep neat, easier to display necessary equipment e.g. dildos, vibrators, lubes, and it’s much easier to have things setup at all times for camming versus everyday living.

Financially, it makes more sense too. While you’ll need to speak with your accountant, it’s possible that you’ll be able to write-off the rent or lease portion of the dedicated space.

Overall, dedicating space solely to your cam work may help you take things more seriously and perhaps help you be more successful. If you don’t have the space, it’s not the end of the world but if you do, then dedicate it to your work.

clean room

Keep It Clean (And Comfy)

Whether you’ve got the dedicated space or not, you’ve gotta keep it clean. In fact, keeping your area clean might be the most important thing you need to understand here. According to some Reddit and Elite Daily readers, messy is a major turnoff.

The problem with a mess is that it becomes the focal point of the room, taking consumers’ eyes off of you and on that stack of dirty clothes or whatever clutter might exist. Keeping your room clean is super easy when you’ve got a dedicated room for camming. No wrinkled sheets and unmade bed, no dirty clothes, no trash, no random clutter – nothing distracting.

If your bedroom or camming space is a complete disaster, then you’ll want to do whatever you can to hide it. The easiest way to hide the mess (if you can’t prevent it) is to not display your background. Instead, you can make your on-stream setting more interesting by using a custom styled background.

This will work just fine with OBS and if you’ve got a green screen, then things can get even more creative. As for why keeping it clean matters so much, there’s data backed evidence showing that users will bounce out of a non-appealing room faster than a clean one. Don’t lose a whale over not keeping it clean. Save the dirty for you and the user in a one on one session.

The Right Furniture

If you’re streaming from your bedroom, then you’ve obviously got a bed covered. Another piece of furniture that you might consider having is a computer desk and chair. Lots of models switch from desk to bed depending on the type of chats they’re trying to have.

You’ll want the same option. Cover those bases and you’re good to go. Don’t start incorporating any grand or wild furniture that’s going to draw users attention away from you.

put things away

Storage Space

You need storage for all your props and toys. These items should be stored in whatever room you’re streaming shows. Reason being, users don’t like to wait. If you head to another room to grab a dildo, heels or lingerie, then chances are some will bounce. This holds true for both exclusive and public chats.

During your cam sessions, people will ask lots of questions. They’ll ask if you have any high heels, lingerie, dildos, vibrators and more. Many of them will ask to see specific items like yellow fishnets or big black dildos and more. You need to have easy access to these items if you want to keep users entertained. Store them close and store them in a dedicated spot.

eggshell color

Color & Decor

As for the color scheme in your cam room, you’ll want to keep it as neutral as possible. Stick with the basics – white, eggshell, cream, and light gray. Neutral colors and decor helps to keep the focus on you and not on the rest of the room.

If you’re planning on decking it out with crazy accent colors and bright colors, I’m going to suggest you try taking the neutral approach first. Basically, your objective should be to make this room replicable and non-specific (for many reasons).

Lights

Does lighting matter? You better believe it! You need to do your best to control the lighting in the room. Step one is blocking out light from any windows. Sunlight isn’t great for camming, keep those windows covered. If you’re got light fixtures setup in the room, then set them up to test how much light they give off while camming. If your room is lit poorly, then users will assume the camming experience is just as bad, perhaps worse. There’s a good chance that you have all the light that you need.

Here’s a tip for those that want to stand out amongst the rest. Use an accent light with color to really make your profile pop on the CamSoda homepage. You’ll want to use soft white bulbs or compact fluorescent bulbs. These are most likely already in some of the light fixtures you’re casually using throughout your home. A little rearranging and you’re good to go.

Many YouTubers and makeup artists opt for ring lights. These are very simple lights which are frequently used by photographers for glamour shots and beauty shots. Models often choose this lighting due to even and diffused lighting that it emits. There are no ugly shadows that you’ll get when using traditional lighting.

Now, if you want to go more pro here and you’ve got a dedicated cam room as suggested, then for less than $100 you can have professional studio photography lighting setup. Check out this lighting kit made by HPUSN. It’s really a game changer if you can afford to do so.

PTZ pro 2 Camera

Camera

As for your camera, this is where things can get really expensive. If you’re streaming using a came with 1280 x 720 resolution, then you should be good to go. No one wants to watch a blurry and grainy cam show, literally – NO ONE…So make sure you’ve got a good cam. If you’re using a MacBook Pro 2020 model, then you’ve got 720p resolution and you should be good.

However, if you want to offer really high quality streaming for users, then take a look at some of the webcams that logitech makes. One of the high-end cams we recommend is the PTZ PRO 2. This is a 1080p HD camera that will for sure make your streams look more professional. But if you cannot afford one, it’s no big deal. This shouldn’t be a blocker for kickstarting your camming career.
